Challenge

Belron is a vehicle glass repair and replacement group with IT teams spread across the globe. Tasked with delivering new technology solutions, tools, and processes to the entire company, Belron’s IT teams faced several challenges: building and maintaining accurate IT roadmaps, keeping remote teams in sync, and communicating the high-level plan to executive leadership. Teams used a number of different tools for building roadmaps, including Visio, PowerPoint, and Excel; these tools did not satisfy Belron’s planning and communication needs.

Solution

Belron’s IT manager began a search for a convenient, easy-to-use solution for building high-level roadmaps. The ideal solution would also facilitate sharing roadmaps with stakeholders and across IT teams. A key differentiator for ProductPlan was its simplicity. The team found ProductPlan to have an intuitive interface and Belron’s targeted features.

Results

IT teams at Belron now successfully create and share roadmaps in ProductPlan. ProductPlan’s JIRA integration helps tie high-level strategy to project details, and the Portfolio Views feature allows teams to share different versions of roadmaps with different external stakeholders. Instead of sharing a list of projects with stakeholders, ProductPlan’s visual roadmaps make understanding the big picture of IT strategy easy and fast for everyone involved.

Key Results

  • Standardized roadmapping across global IT teams
  • Synced high-level strategy and project management with JIRA integration
  • Simplified and faster communication across teams and stakeholders

52.9%

of product professionals now work in hybrid environments, making the challenge of keeping remote IT teams aligned, as Belron experienced.

40.2%

of respondents say their product lifecycle tools have limited or no integration across strategy, discovery, roadmaps, and launch plans, which is exactly the fragmentation Belron was solving by connecting JIRA to their high-level roadmaps in ProductPlan.

3 out of 5

Confidence in communicating product strategy across departments averages just 3 out of 5, supporting why Belron's need for simpler, visual roadmap sharing with stakeholders was a real and widespread problem, not just their own.

“We’ve had great success at Belron sharing roadmaps across teams. The easy-to-use sharing mechanism frees up team members to spend more time executing on initiatives instead of maintaining roadmaps.”
