What’re cascading OKRs?

Customers will now have the ability to cascade OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) throughout different levels of their organization, from company-wide objectives down to individual department or team objectives. Simply put, there will be an ability to relate a child objective to a parent objective.

How does it work?

Newly created and already existing active objectives can be aligned with existing parent objectives. To make these connections, a user must be the editor of the objective being modified or an account admin. For new objectives, customers can make this selection during the creation flow. For existing objectives, customers can open edit mode on the objective and add a parent. An objective can have multiple child objectives. However, only one parent objective can be added.

Why cascading OKRs?

Strategic alignment for stakeholders is at the core of this release. Alongside improved transparency, ensuring that all teams are working towards the same company-wide objectives leads to better coordination and achievement of key results.

For the end users, the reasoning comes down to simplified planning and clear direction. Teams and individuals can easily see how their specific objectives tie into the broader organizational goals. This leads to a better understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
